1818 New Sharon Church Rd., Hillsborough, NC
Pleasant Hill Farm, LLC has a great selection of school horses to ride. Our school horses come in a range of sizes, colors, riding ability and personalities, from “Noel” the horse that likes to keep things slow and peaceful to "Andy" who enjoys advanced jumping lessons. Each school horse is different in their own way and each one is ready to teach you something new with each lesson. Lessons last up to two hours.
Lesson are held by appointment for ages 5 and up. Adult lessons are also available. Lessons are planned out to work on the skills needed to maintain a balanced seat for riding, and the horsemanship skills necessary to handle horses safely.
We have a 155’ by 255’ Lighted Outdoor Show Arena (*soon to be a Covered outdoor arena with lights), an Indoor Riding Ring, an Outdoor Riding Ring, and a field with cross-country jumps.
In addition to the riding accommodations, there are two secure tack rooms and a comfortable lounge for relaxing after rides.
Private Lessons: $45/lesson - 1-2 students for 30 minutes
Group Lessons: $35/hour - 3 or more students around your age and level
Arrive at least 30 minutes before lesson time, allowing the extra time to get your horse ready. Expect to be “in the saddle” approximately one hour. After the lesson, allow another 30 minutes to untack, cool out your horse, and clean and put away your tack.
You may make monthly payments or pay by each lesson, however you prefer. Payments accepted in the form of check, cash or gift certificates only. Please write the lesson dates on all checks for our records.
Every rider must sign a Release of Liability Form (pdf version).

What to Wear
Correct riding attire is mandatory. For your own safety, wear a hard-soled shoe with a small heel. Paddock boots or tall boots are preferred. Tennis shoes and sneakers are not permitted for riding. Long pants, stretch pants, tights, breeches and jodhpurs are ideal.
An ASTM/SEI approved helmet is required for all youth and strongly recommended for adult riders. A bike helmet is not designed for horseback riding and is unacceptable. We have several approved school helmets in different sizes for you to borrow for your first few lessons.
